Ballarat is situated 110kms north west of Melbourne and is a fantastic day trip, short break or longer stay.

Ballarat Town Hall

Born of the turbulent Goldrush era, Victoria's largest inland city, Ballarat, is rich in history, heritage and culture. In the 1850's thousands flocked here from all over the world to find their fortune. The city itself will draw you in with its rich goldfields heritage, enhanced by wide tree lined avenues and spacious parks and beautiful gardens. Grand buildings and one of the country's most intact Victorian streetscapes can be seen in historic Lydiard Street.

Ballarat is the home of the famous Sovereign Hill Gold Mining Village, including Blood on the Southern Cross Sound and Light Show and of course Ballarat Wildlife Park. The Eureka Stockade centre is the latest addition to the variety of attractions which Ballarat has to offer.

Ballarat is also the gateway to much of the best Victoria has to offer, including the rest of the picturesque Goldfields region and the spectacular Great Southern Touring route comprising Ballarat, the Grampians and the Great Ocean Road.
