Planets High 5 2018


Mercury,Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars

These 5 planets are visible in the evenings from July 14th – July 21st  at 6.30pm.

Day Program

Tuesday, Thursday Saturday, open from 1.30pm casual visitors welcome.

1.30pm Observatory and 3rd Rock Cafe open.

1.30pm Camera Obscura

1.45.00- 2.00pm Tour of the Telescopes

2.00pm – 2.30pm Safe Solar Observation  if fine and Radio Telescope or virtual sky if cloudy – Our Sun presentation

2.30 -3.30pm Children’s activities, make an asteroid and Earth to take home.

3.30 – 4.00pm 3D Movie about asteroids  and looking at the Busy Solar system


4.00 -5.00pm Mars 3D Movie – Close approach This year Mars will come close to the Earth, as it does every 15 years, find out more about our close neighbour with NASA program.  Mars Credit: Courtesy NASA/JPL-Caltech

5.00pm Viewing at the telescopes  – Bookings essential.

Evening Program

5.00pm Arrive

5:30pm – Looking for the Planets,

and Viewing at  the telescopes.

If it is cloudy we will have a virtual sky tour and tour of the observatory.



Adult: $25

Concession: $18 (Senior/Pensioner Card holders only)

Student/Child: $12 (under 18 years only)

Family 4 (2 adults + 2 children): $60

Family 5 (2 adults + 3 children): $65
