The SCI FI EVENT is an annual event. It is great fun (those little Dalek Twins and their Tardis Mum last year!)

and is geared at showing how the real science that is done by scientists has some connection to science-fiction.

It is also about showing that good science almost always starts as fiction, and it may take a while (decades or even millennia) before it is realised as valid science.

The 2016 3rd SCI-FI EVENT on Sat 30th January will include for the FIRST TIME the Best SCI-FI Short Story (1,000-7,500 words) which will attract a separate prize.

The best short stories will be     published online in our first Sci Fi Short Stories – Best of 2016, as well as printed in a booklet.

Send your entry to bas@cbl.com.au with your  contact details, stories need to arrive by 5pm 18th January.

SurfShadows

Come and hear the SURF SHADOWS play surf and space music.

Astronomy and space exploration have had big influences on music, including surf music

In the 1960s the Space Race between the West/USA and East/USSR inspired  surf bands like ‘The Astronaut’s from the U.S.A.,

‘The Spotniks’ from Sweden, and  ‘Die Sputniks’ from East Germany.

What came out of this time of space exploration was a range of space themed instrumentals and songs with a surf music sound!

Come and hear the SURF SHADOWS play Telstar, Sputnik, Vostok Rumble, The Rocket Man, Dr Who Theme, Polaris, and songs like Space Oddity, Under the Milky Way, and Planet Claire to name just a few.
