Exploring the planets of our Solar System, deciding the ultimate fate of a star or flying around the galaxies in the local Universe are all possible in a 3D AstroTour. From an astronaut’s footprint to the galaxy clusters that form the most gigantic structures known, it is a captivating astronomy experience for the whole family. Some very innovative Virtual Reality technologies have been developed by the Astrophysics and Supercomputing people at Swinburne University. The movies are produced by SpaceWorks: a multidisciplinary team.
Data from the 6dF (six degree field survey) galaxy survey was used to create a stunning fly through of the galaxy clusters that form the visible universe.
The Astrotours include a variety of interactive tools and simulations on many aspects of Astronomy – from the Solar System to Galaxy Dynamics
AstroTours are recommended for audiences aged 7 years or over, and are available for primary and secondary school groups as well as the general public.
Presented by Ballaarat Astronomical Society Inc. in partnership with the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing – Swinburne University of Technology.
Our AstroTour school programs provide complete coverage of the current Victorian Science Curriculum – from primary school through to the Victorian Certificate of Education.
