The Lucas Window
One of 16 stained-glass windows donated by community groups between 1914 and 1929.

The Lucas Window

This window was donated by the Lucas Girls in 1923, in memory of their
employer, Mrs Eleanor Lucas. Mrs Lucas set up a small garment-making enterprise, which developed into one of Ballarat?s most successful businesses. The Lucas Girls took a keen interest in activities outside the Firm, their most notable achievements being the Sturt St Arch of Victory and the Avenue of Honour

The window was created and installed by the firm of W.J. Robson & Sons, which provided most of the Observatory?s windows. The firm, which has served the Observatory and Ballarat for nearly 90 years, is still in operation in Main St Ballarat,  under the management of fourth- generation Robson glass craftsmen.
