This window was given to the Observatory in 1916 by the Sebastopol Cambrian Society, and was one of 16 stained-glass windows donated by community groups between 1914 and 1929. as a mark of respect for John Brittain as an active Cambrian Society member and for his work at the Observatory. The Cambrian Society was formed in 1907 and until it ceased in the 1920s, promoted Welsh culture, especially through its annual St. David's Day concerts. The window was created and installed by the firm of W.J. Robson & Sons, which provided most of the Observatory's windows. The firm, which has served the Observatory and Ballarat for nearly 90 years, is still in operation in Main St Ballarat, under the management of fourth- generation Robson glass craftsmen. The window text is shown enlarged.
