When the Full Moon is at Perigee, closest distance to the Earth, and the distance is less than 360,000km it is popularly called a Super Moon. Perigee is when the Moon is closest to the Earth each month and varies each month. Apogee is when the Moon is furthest from the Earth each month and varies each month. The term Super Moon was first coined by Richard Nolle and is now a common term.
